SeaOtter / Beta terms
Last updated: July 30, 2026 · Supplements the Terms of Service
SeaOtter Dispatch is a young service. The mechanisms described below — the prepaid balance, the held job price, checking before money moves, free escalation — are live and real, and we operate them carefully at a deliberately small scale: we take a limited number of jobs at a time, and some job categories are marked "not yet" because their checks aren't honest yet. A category never opens until we can check it for real.
Before any job runs, we write what "done" means as short, checkable lines, and you confirm each one. That confirmed list is the whole agreement: work is accepted, and money moves, on those lines and nothing else.
Each line is checked by the strongest instrument that can carry it: a deterministic machine check where a machine can decide, a measured specialist instrument where one is calibrated, and otherwise frontier-model judgment anchored on the reference material you yourself provided. Verification is bounded by what the best available tooling can honestly decide — a line that even that cannot verify is refused or narrowed before you confirm, never silently waved through. Anything we can't check appears under "Not part of what we check" — an honest refusal of coverage, not a hidden promise.
Every receipt names, per line, what actually checked it. During beta we additionally spot-sample machine decisions with human review, most heavily where the tooling is newest.
Jobs start at £75. You fund a prepaid balance first (£250 minimum first top-up; amounts are ex-VAT and a VAT invoice is issued at top-up). Confirming a job sets its exact price aside as a hold — held, not spent. The hold is drawn only when every line you confirmed passes its check; otherwise it returns to your balance in full.
The price you confirm is the whole price. When a job is drawn, the worker who did it keeps 75% and SeaOtter's service fee is the remaining 25% — taken from inside the price, never added on top of it.
Close your account whenever you like: whatever remains of your topped-up balance is refunded within 30 days.
Beta buyer accounts may receive £20 of credit, funded by SeaOtter. It spends through the normal balance machinery — held on confirm, drawn only on acceptance, paid to the worker exactly like real money. Credit we granted is not redeemable for cash, is consumed before your own topped-up money, and is not a sale (no VAT invoice is issued at grant). Per-account and campaign caps apply.
A failed line means nothing is drawn: the work goes back with the evidence attached and is re-sent under our retry policy. If it keeps failing, a person takes over within one business day — we finish the job ourselves or release the held amount back to you in full. Escalation is free, always.
The receipt — your words, the confirmed lines, what checked each one, and what it saw — is the document both sides point at in any dispute. Workers have their own typed dispute path; a dispute resolved in a worker's favour leaves no mark on their record.
Standard template — pending counsel review. This section will be replaced with counsel-approved wording; the mechanisms in sections 1–5 are live product behaviour and stand on their own.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SeaOtter's aggregate liability arising out of any job is limited to the amount actually drawn from your balance for that job. SeaOtter is not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud, or affects your statutory rights.
What we collect and keep during capture, checking, and payment is described in the Privacy Policy. Two beta specifics worth repeating: voice capture stores the transcript (kept 90 days past job close), never the audio; and nothing you submit is used to train models without a separate, explicit opt-in.
